MCA, 16 others found locked inside a bar in Nyeri on Friday night
At least 17 people were arrested on Friday evening in Nyeri after they were found locked up in a bar drinking alcohol.
Among them was Rware Ward MCA Paul Kanyari who is said to have been in the company of other MCAs who managed to escape.
The 17 were found locked up in Laquisine Guest House found in King’ong’o area after members of the public tipped law enforcement officers.
The incident was confirmed by Nyeri Central Sub-County Police Commander Paul Kuria who said the suspects will be arraigned in court and charged with flouting the Public Health Act which bars gatherings.
The government has banned gatherings, closed down entertainment joints and religious places in a bid to curb the spread of the killer Coronavirus.
So far several people including elected leaders have been found flouting the directive.
Kenya has so far recorded 246 Coronavirus cases a month after the first case was confirmed.
