Kenya confirms 51 new Coronavirus cases, total hits 963
The number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in Kenya has reached 963 after 51 people tested for the disease on Tuesday.
Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe revealed that out of this number 14 out of the 16 cases detected in Wajir county crossed into Kenya from Somalia.
CS Kagwe also revealed that out of 214 positive cases detected at the Kenya-Tanzania boarder points, 182 are foreigners.
All these foreigners were denied entry into Kenya as directed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Perhaps this explains why Tanzania under directives from President John Pombe Magufuli has been furious with the move by Kenya to close its border.
The CS also dismissed claims made by Tanzania that Kenyan truck drivers are not tested before entering Tanzanian territories, saying all the Kenyan drivers are tested before being allowed to proceed into Tanzania.
Also addressing the media, Cabinet Secretary for the East African Community Adan Mohamed said Kenya will not stop any cargo trucks from coming into country.
He said on Tuesday cargo trucks were crossing the border despite Tanzania banning movement of goods from Kenya to its territory.
