DP Ruto to join Raila in Meru BBI rally
Deputy President William Ruto will attend the BBI rally in Meru presided over by Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.
This is according to Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria who is Ruto’s key ally in the Central region.
Kuria said since BBI is all about uniting Kenyans, the DP will for the first time attend the rallies that are spear-headed by Raila and his team.
“The Meru BBI rally on 29th February will be the best so far. If inclusivity is one of the aspirations of the BBI, this will be the hallmark of the Meru rally with the Deputy President H.E Dr William Ruto set to attend for the first time alongside former Prime Minister Rt Hon Raila Odinga. This is the Kenya we want,” Kuria said on on social media.
Ruto and his Tangatanga side have been playing warm and cold over the BBI rallies, eventually indicating they will be joining Raila’s team.
Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, a key ally of Ruto, attended the Mombasa and Kitui rallies, indicating Ruto’s camp will support a referendum proposed by Raila.
In Kitui, however, Kuria was ejected under orders from Governor Charity Ngilu, only to be allowed into the meeting after intervention from a section of residents and leaders.
