Theresa May has resigned as United Kingdom Prime Minister and will leave office by June 7 as she declares she did all she could for a country she loved.
This comes after May failed to deliver Brexit for the UK.
“I have done my best .It is and will always remain a matter of deep regret to me that I have not been able to deliver Brexit,” a tearful May said as reported by Daily Mail.
May was accompanied by her husband Philip while making the announcement on the doorstep of Downing Street.
This comes after her last effort to get her EU deal through the Commons failed.
May was the second female Prime Minister of the UK after Margaret Thatcher.
May visited Kenyan in August 2018 and held talks with President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi.
She was given a 19-gun salute at State House because she heads government. Heads of states are normally given 21-gun salutes.
