Atwoli blasts DP Ruto in Rashid Echesa fraud saga
COTU boss Francis Atwoli has roped Deputy President William Ruto into the Rashid Echesa fraud case that saw him arrested and arraigned in court.
Addressing the media on Friday, Atwoli wondered how Ruto’s office was used by Echesa to sign the fake documents that sought to defraud foreigners billions of shillings.
“How can fraudulent documents be signed in an official office of the deputy president? The second largest office on the land!” Atwoli said.
He went on to claim that Ruto and his allies may have realised they were being monitored and decided to defend themselves.
Echesa was arrested on Thursday for allegedly defrauding a foreigner billions of shillings in a fake arms supply tender.
The former Sports CS denied the claims, saying the arrested was politically instigated.
Echesa is said to have signed the fake documents in DP Ruto’s office.
