Emotions hit the roof as Senators Murkomen, Orengo dress down each other over Kindiki impeachment
It was a heated debate on Friday during a special Senate sitting for the impeachment of Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki got underway.
This was after Senators openly defied the standing orders and went on personal attacks at each other.
Siaya Senator James Orengo went for blood when he alluded that his colleague Kipchumba Murkomen’s academic qualifications were wanting.
Orengo had asked Murkomen to read ‘widely’ and went further to make reference to a couple of books he thought Murkomen should peruse.
“We are exercising our legislative authority under the Constitution. A decision by Parliament is not an administrative action. Senator, you may need to read if you have not read,” Orengo told Murkomen.
“Senator Orengo has over and over again doubted my practice and knowledge of law and my academic qualifications,” fired Murkomen.
“We went to the same university although the difference is 26 years. I have two Master’s degrees and he has none. I have taught at university and he has not,” Murkomen said.
