D-day for Kindiki Kithure as Senate speaker convenes special Senate sitting on Friday to debate on his removal as Deputy Speaker
Tharaka Nithi Senator Kindiki Kithure will know his fate as Deputy Speaker on Friday after Speaker Kenneth Lusaka convened a special sitting.
The senate will converge on May 22 to debate motion for the removal of Kindiki as Deputy Speaker due to his failure to attend a meeting at State House convened by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
This comes after Muranga Senator Irungu Kangata on Monday wrote to the speaker giving a Notice of Motion to remove Kindiki, an allyto Deputy President William Ruto.
“I beg to move that this House of Senate resolves that Senator Kindiki, be removed from the office of the Deputy Speaker of the Senate,” Kangata, current Senate Chief whip stated without divulging details, including grounds for Kindiki’s removal.
The newly installed Majority Whip will require at least 44 Senators to vote in support of Kindiki’s removal.
Currently, Jubilee has 26 Senators while 22 are from Nasa.
