COVID-19: Government deliberating on curfew extension – Dr Rashid Aman
The government is deliberating on the possibilitiy of extending current curfew between 7pm and 5am, Health CAS Dr Rashid Aman has said.
The CAS said there will be communication on the same after stakeholders make a decision on the end or extension of the 30-day curfew declared by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“On expiry of the curfew which is tomorrow, “this is being discussed on various levels, there will be communication on the position of the government regarding this,” he said.
During the announcement. the President made the pronouncement saying that the only exceptions will be for essential services.
The current curfew does not affect Medical professionals and health workers, National Security Administration and Coordination officers, Public Health and Sanitation officers from the counties, licensed pharmacies and drug stores, Kenya Power, food dealers wholesalers and transporters, licensed supermarkets, mini-supermarkets and hypermarkets, licensed retailers and distributors of petroleum products, licensed telecommunication operators and service providers, licensed banks, financial institutions, and payment services, licensed security firms and fire brigade.
